The second building with the second floor living quarters has a really cool dollhouse.
Visted Oct 11th. Even though websites state open daily until mid October, nothing here but casinos. Very disapponted. No museums. Only good thing is the beautiful views. Liked it better 30 years ago.
Leave the stroller in front. Stairs and narrow aisles.
This is definitely a good spot to learn about Cripple Creek's history. Though older kids may enjoy this place, it is your typical "don't touch" atmosphere. There is a lot to read and the walk through is self guided.
This was the first museum we visited on our weekend getaway. The woman up front was very friendly and had a lot to say about the artifacts housed in the museum.
There were 5 buildings total and a lot of mine equipment on display. I enjoyed the crib and miner's cottage.
My favorite part was the third floor living quarters. I just love seeing how people lived in the past.
The old depot houses the main collection. Its a wonderful building but the aisles are narrow and the stairs are steep and not for older folks , people with bad knees or little children. The items are a interesting and fairly well labelled. The best part was the glass 3 dimensional maps of the old mines.
Good local information and history.
